Maria Rebello is the first female referee
International Women’s Day 2014 will be etched in her memory for life as she could not have started her league career on a better day. Former India footballer Maria Rebello from Curtorim, Goa – who trained in refereeing – finally lived her dream and made history by being the first woman to officiate in an I-League match at the Balewadi Sports Complex on the Saturday. Mysore Celebrates IWD
All women crew on flights
Air India operated all-women crew flights to international and domestic destinations from dawn to dusk to celebrate International Women’s Day.
On the domestic network, the flights operated by an all-women crew were AI-803/506 on the Delhi-Bangalore-Delhi sector. The flight was commanded by Capt M Bedi with Capt Yashima Singh as second-in-command. This is the first flight operated with a B-787 aircraft that has been flown with an all-women crew.
Another flight (AI804/505) operated Bangalore-Delhi-Bangalore with Capt V Roopa in command assisted by Capt Niranjana Ashok as Co-pilot. Anish Narmada was the flight dispatcher.
Flight AI603/604 operated on Mumbai-Bangalore-Mumbai sector with Capt Venetia Monteen and Capt Jyoti Doifode. The flight from Chennai on the Chennai-Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram sector (AI263) was operated by Capt Deepa with First Officer Nimisha Goel. The flight also had Y Radhika, AME on board.
