Vinita Ramtri – Indi-Brit Blogger

vinita5Vinita Ramtri lives by one principle – ‘every single day, be the best me you can ever be’.

Managing Conduct Risk at one of the UK’s largest banks, Vinita moved to the UK in 2006 and lives in London. A graduate from Delhi University and the Institute of Hotel Management, Vinita started her career with the Oberoi Hotels, moving on to several learning, development and change roles in the Indian off-shoring industry. Once in the UK, Vinita spent a few years working with Sky, leading change and innovation programmes before joining Financial  Services.

In her spare time Vinita likes to train and keep fit. Vinita is passionate about development – of people, of skills, of attitudes and wants to ensure she plays her part in leaving this world a better place than she received it.

The attitude to never let go, to do what’s right, to persevere, to want to connect with people, to leave a legacy, to be kind – an attitude that just does not let you accept defeat even if you wanted to.

I’m not quite sure whether I’m ‘videshi woman’ or ‘desi turned videshi’!

All I know is that as an Indian turned British, single mum of two lovely children, I would love to share my journey with you. To those of you who are in India considering a life abroad, or the videshi women in India who may be able to offer me some tips on life in the UK. Or those who may share similar lives looking for how to find that fine balance between the pressures of a demanding job and the joys called motherhood, or even those of you wondering how to start afresh from a marriage not worth pursuing any longer. Or for anyone else reading this simply because as you read, for this one moment, our paths in life – however different – are crossing (albeit virtually).  Please feel free to share your comments, write to me, or find me on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter as you please.

I want to write about so many things – life, incidents, experiences, people, just my journey till now here and onward from here. And while some bits may feel like random articles, I hope there will always be a message or a single common denominator – attitude. The attitude to never let go, to do what’s right, to persevere, to want to connect with people, to leave a legacy, to be kind – an attitude that just does not let you accept defeat even if you wanted to.
