WATC India-AppWeAreTheCity India is delighted to announce the launch of its new Android app. Also available for Windows phones, the new WATC App will extend the potential reach of WeAreTheCity’s online platform for women to millions of smartphone users across india.

A recent report by research firm eMarketer suggested that India will surpass the United States as the second-largest market for smartphones globally by 2016 reaching more than 200 million users, helped by device makers offering affordable handsets. According to technology group Ericsson, this figure will grow to over 500 millions users by 2020.

Stewart Vallely, Co-Founder and Web Development Head of WeAreTheCity, said: “In order to grow, WeAreTheCity has to meet the demands of its members and be available on the right platform. In India, as the statistics clearly show, the best platform to connect with professional and entrepreneurial women is by smartphone. We are delighted to be able to provide our App to our members on the anniversary of our first birthday in India. With this new technology we hope to take WeAreTheCity to the next level, encouraging further interaction and a sense of community reaching all corners of India.”

Vanessa Vallely, Co-Founder and CEO of WeAreTheCity, said: “The vision of WeAreTheCity is to connect, inspire and empower women to develop and advance in all aspects of their lives. Women are on the move and, thanks to the growth of social media sites like Twitter, want to have information, connections and event information at their fingers tips wherever they are. The new WATC App will allow our members to keep in touch and keep up-to-date with the latest articles and events offered by our platform. We also look forward to seeing an increase in social media interaction as members seamlessly move between our Twitter space (@WATC_India) and our WATC App.”
