Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

My name is Tanvi Geetha Ravishankar. I am 28 years old. I am a Plus size Fashion Blogger, Fashion Stylist, Voice over artist , Dancer, Choreographer and a Plus size Model. I am born and raised in Mumbai and currently live here as well. I have done my schooling from Bombay Scottish SchoolMahim and have studied I.T engineering from KK Wagh Institute of Technology ,Nasik (Pune University). I have trained in Indian classical dance for 15years ( Odissi , Bharatanatyam and Kathak) and post my degree I have taken training in Jazz and Freestyle.

Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote

I am currently focusing all my time and energies on #TheChubbyTwirler. Under it I have a Plus size fashion blog called “Confessions of #TheChubbyTwirler “ , a series of Dance videos on Youtube called “Chori-ogaphies of #TheChubbyTwirler” and a plus size clothing label. The main idea behind my brand is to promote the idea of body positivity amongst women and girls who have been victims of fat shaming through ages. The first step to conquering the world is being confident in your own skin. It saddens me that girls are not comfortable in their own bodies and put themselves through such scrutiny their entire life just because society has set some insane standards. I am overwhelmed with the kind of response that I am getting and wish to continue inspiring people.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

My mind. I have procrastinated for 5 years to start #TheChubbyTwirler until finally this year I said to myself that you will never know unless you tried.

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

My greatest I would say is something yet to come , but one of my bigger achievements has been walking the first ever plus size fashion show at Lakme Fashion Week ‘16 for Little SHilpa and aLL.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

I cannot see myself doing anything else apart from all the things that I doing currently. I still wanna do a lot more though and venture into many more fields in the creative industry . I have one life to live and with it have a gazillion dreams and experiences to fulfill , the challenge is to fulfill them all !

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Melissa McCarthy and Ashley Graham, I‘d say have played the biggest role in inspiring me to do what I am doing. They have been fighting the good fight long before body positivity was even a movement and the amount of talent that they both have just leaves me in awe everytime, not to mention how amazingly gorgeous they both look!

What does the future hold for you?

I’d like to take things one day at a time and not worry much about the future, but what I do plan on is broadening my reach so much so that my clothing label #TheChubbyTwirler is available to women and girls easily . Fingers crossed!
