Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

I pursued my Bachelors and then my Masters in Business Management, before joining the corporate world. But somehow, after a short stint I realised, a 9-5 finance or consulting job wasn’t my hearts calling. I am a peoples’ person and I draw my energy from them. I love to be creative and a usual, non-challenging day to me is boring.

On both, my personal and work front, currently I keep myself busy in a couple of things. So, I run a modular furniture, manufacturing and retail company in Gurgaon, for the last 18 years. In between my extensive travel to Europe for sourcing, client meetings and interactions, I love to take out some time to write interiors related articles for a couple of magazines and National dailies. I am also a jury member at a couple of reputed interior design institutes in Delhi.

Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote

I have off-late been working on conceptualization to now launch, of an online portal of a different kind, which is v close to my heart. This is to sell not just complete solutions in Kitchens, Wardrobes, bathroom vanities, Crockery units and more but also their components, whereby the client can create a solution which is unique to him.

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

I was Mrs India North India finalist twice, which was an awesome experience for me. On the professional front, recently winning the small business of the year award 2017, at the National SME awards, which recognised our contribution to the Industry, was truly overwhelming.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

A difficult question to answer. But frankly, I would have either been into the travel business or probably heading a brand of international repute.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Undoubtedly, my parents. I leant to remain focused and grounded from them. They silently taught me how to face challenges in life each day and to rise and shine brighter every single time. The never give up attitude and to not cheat or hurt anyone in the process, is what always inspired me and pushed me to raise my bar continuously.

What does the future hold for you?

I believe future holds lots of promises for us. We must always look at the brighter side of life, stay focused and keep walking. I would love to see my new online venture scale new heights and make its presence felt soon. I would also like to revolutionise the way kitchens have been sold so far. We are working on a few concepts right now. If we are able to collaborate with the right strategic partner, we should be making that a reality soon.
