Message from our Head of India

Namaste!

Caroline Graham - Head of WeAreTheCity IndiaI’m delighted to welcome you to WeAretheCity India! The content of our new India site is literally hot off the press and we hope you like the articles, the photos, the blogs and our first featured Inspirational Women.

Over the past few months I have been working with the UK team, and a few fabulous women in India, to being WATC India to life.

During this time I have been able to combine what I love doing most – networking and making new connections – with what I love doing second most of all – encouraging women to get involved in initiatives to empower and inspire other women.

We hope that WeAretheCity India will inspire you to connect with inspirational women, to build strong networks, to encourage others to get involved in the advancement of women and to literally help smash the so-called glass ceiling. I have been lucky enough to have lived in India for the last two years – first in Chennai for 13 months and then in Mumbai since last March.

You all have great stories and we ask you to share them with us.

During this time I’ve established a strong women’s network in my own organisation and have watched women colleagues across India organise successful events, take the lead on major programmes, get promoted, challenge unconscious biases and drive Diversity through talent management. There is absolutely nothing to stop women reaching the top and fulfilling their full potential.

We at WATC however recognise that we may have to climb a hill from time to time, or break down a barrier or two along the way, so we want to hear from you about the defining moments in your career and how you dealt with the challenges life throws at you. I have loved hearing the success stories of my own colleagues and the women I have met at events around the city. You all have great stories and we ask you to share them with us. Our big sister WeAreTheCity.com has shown us how it can be done and we hope to replicate in India the amazing success our UK site has enjoyed.

Sign up to WATC India! Send us your blogs or articles! Let us know about events you are organising and we’ll post them for you. Tell us if you are running a network for women and are looking for new members! Let us know about your citizenship activities or NGOs you are involved with! Sing your own praises about the business you have set up or the book you have written!  We want to bring you all together to network, make connections, share advice and have some fun.

I look forward to welcoming you on board!

Caroline
