What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
The biggest challenge has been to manage work, small kids and family but with the constant support of my husband and family, this has been possible. My husband has been my biggest support… I can’t thank him for making me realise my dreams…and my mother who’s been my encouragement and role model since my growing years.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
Greatest achievement so far has been to pen down my thoughts and write books for small children. Reading was always a passion from childhood and writing came in gradually. Biggest opportunity that came my way was when i was asked to edit books and thereon author books too with Galgotia Publications. My great grand book named ‘The Ultimate Craft Book’ is the mother of all craft books. I have authored more than 20 books for children…
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t working at the University, i would have continued to teach or been at an administrative post in a school. Teaching has always been my passion. I started my career as a primary teacher in St. Marys School and moved on to become a PRO of the school too. I love to work with small children and I still conduct art & craft; story telling and theme based workshops on festivals like Rakhi, Diwali, Christmas etc for children in various schools and malls of Delhi NCR.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My mother has been my greatest inspiration…my role model…Inspite of her ill –health. I saw her teach in the school, do workshops, give programmes on Television and work for the NGO’s. She always taught me to be a part of the society and to be grounded. My other two role models have been Ms Annie Koshi- PRINCIPAL of St. Marys School… She encouraged me immensely while i had just started my career as a teacher in her school. She had the vision and asked mecontinue my studies and do my MBA and promoted me to the post of a PRO in her school. My other role model is Mr Suneel Galgotia, Chancellor, Galgotias University.. He saw my craft article in the newspaper and called me to come and write craft books for his publication house- Galgotia Publications, from there on he asked me to start clubs in his newly formed University in Greater Noida. He had the vision and had the confidence in me to do it and here i am…heading both his campus in greater noida with more than 15000 students.
What does the future hold for you?
Well, there’s a lot to do still in life..i feel this is just the beginning…from teaching…to workshops…giving programmes on Television..writing books…editing books…and now working in the University. I have had a chance to work with small children and the youth. I have tried to share my expertise and work for the betterment of the society by working with the under privileged. I feel there’s a lot that we as individuals can do. I would like to mold the youth in creative manner and continue working for the betterment of the society in general. I would still like to author new books for kids, conduct eco-friendly workshops for kids and generate awareness in children.
