Introduction: Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently
I’m a south Delhi girl, born and brought up. Came to Bombay eight years ago to study at Xavier’s, and now call this home.
I’m currently working on promoting my personal shopping service – Metodo Chic and when Im not doing that I consult various brands in the fashion, luxury and f&b sector.
Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote
Currently Im offering my personal shopping services to the customers at Bombay’s luxury destination – The Palladium Mall.
I’m also in talks with wedding planners to introduce wedding shopping and styling (really excited about this one!)
I also want to start going to colleges to start teaching students on corporate dressing to prepare them for their interviews and jobs! This is an initiative truly close to my heart.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
I wouldn’t say I’m successful, rather I don’t think I would ever call myself that. The day I think Im successful is the day my ambition will end. And I really don’t want this journey to get over!
My biggest challenge is explaining the service – personal shopping, to the common man. Its an international concept and since it’s not very well known in India, I have to spend a lot of time just explaining it to people. It can get tiring explaining the same thing again and again. I’d rather them experience it first hand 🙂
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
I haven’t had the need to spend on marketing for Metodo Chic! A lot of people ask me who is marketing my brand – I tell them that I do it myself! There isn’t any effort required in this, because I know what I am doing and because Im passionate – I guess it shows!
Still have a long way to go though.
This is my Mt.Everest.
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
Suffering, really. Because Im doing what I always wanted to do.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
People who believed in me.
People who didn’t believe in me.
What does the future hold for you?
The woman who changed the way India shopped.
The woman who showed the power of dressing.
The future holds promise!
About the author
With an experience of either working in or besides the fashion Industry, Tanushree always had an eye for detail and loved fashion. It was during her visit to malls like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman, where she was introduced to the concept of personal shopping. Having realized a big gap in the Indian Fashion Industry (and a life-long experience of being the fashion directory to all her friends!) she decided to launch India’s 1st personal shopping service – Metodo Chic.
“Personal Shopping is not a well-known concept in India. Most people confuse me with a stylist, I go a step beyond the stylist – I tell you what to wear AND get it for you.” says Tanushree.
