Ruchi Phool

After about a decade in IT, working across continents, I discovered yoga and allied healing methods were my calling a few years back.

My aim is to use traditional sciences in alliance with modern techniques and medical research, to empower all to remain happy, healthy and to help bring relief from modern-day health and lifestyle disorders. I believe life is not about living out of the 9 to 5 zone and on weekends but to be experienced every moment deeply through ones soul, to be lived passionately with purpose. I am committed to 360 or integrative holistic wellness for everyone.

Currently I wear many hats, some of which are – yoga and wellness consultant, naturopathy practitioner, laughter yoga teacher, quantum healer, voice over artist, speaker and writer. Based out of Delhi, I conduct various programs – workshops, seminars and retreats for corporates, higher educational institutes and other groups on a regular basis around NCR and the country. I give well structured holistic therapy programs for individuals for almost all ailments in the spectrum of NCD’s, psychosomatic or lifestyle disorders. I am a proponent of a balanced lifestyle, good attitude, joyful living, a good sense of humour and attempt to demonstrate it in my own self and life invariably!

Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

It is hard to speak about oneself when on a journey of Self discovery. Every moment you lose the meaning of who you were the previous moment. You discover that you are an ever evolving, ever growing and changing entity and not definable as such.
Professionally, I worked in IT and media for more than a decade across continents, before embarking on this beautiful journey of holistic living and wellness. I’m currently practicing as a yoga therapist, instructor and wellness coach. I conduct my workshops, courses and retreats on yoga and wellness pan India. I also run a free community called Happy Healthy Holistic to spread the awareness and experiential goodness of yoga and other holistic modalities.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

My biggest challenge has been in raising awareness on what wellness is, its need and the factors driving us, as a human race, away from our own wellbeing. As per the WHO, wellness is a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. At the moment, in our world, even diseaselessness is considered an impossibility, wellness being almost unfathomable! The mass increase in the rise of non communicable diseases for which doctors as yet do not have any cure or explanation, has lead to more interest in this area. People are more open to explore the science of yoga, mindfulness, meditations etc.

Most of us are unwittingly running headlong to our own personal disasters, with the excess of concretisation, radiation, use of electronics, deep seated pollution of natural resources including food, water and air, and more. We need to be able to see our interdependence on all of life and resources and not keep depleting our own lifelines.

On the personal front, it has been my own small voices inside. I believe an entrepreneur has to have great mettle, adaptability, humility and whole lot of qualities that come only by being aligned to one’s deeper authentic self. Some level of spiritual strength is required to be able to hold on to ones goals, beliefs and to overcome ones shortcomings and smallness in large strides. Or to be able to face multiple failures and strike a balance with various aspects of your life against all odds. It’s about striving everyday, some days you do it well, some days are lessons to show you that you’re a work in progress.

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

I lay no claim to any achievements. Mother Earth held the ground beneath my feet, the sky provided me space, my parents brought me in this world and there have been umpteen forces due to which I can stand or even sit.

The only thing I can somewhat claim is my attempt to stay authentic and real. I see so many people nowadays crumbling with the smallest of failures or seeming deprivation. I feel an achievement when I see that nothing big or small has ever been able to deter me from my path or goals. I paused to rest many times, I might have been mislead a few times, but I kept moving. The main motivation and strength behind has been my meditation practice, which lead me to the heart, the source of all.

Work wise, every time I am able to remove someone’s grief or put a smile on their faces it feels like my greatest achievement!

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

I’m fortunate to have been gifted plenty of the gentler creative abilities as well as the spirit of a warrior. There has been a vast spectrum available to me, but I guess what I am doing is what nature would like me to do right now.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

My Guru. He is my ideal in every respect. From the world, the inspiration comes from the dire need of means of staying healthy and well in today’s world.

What does the future hold for you?

If we keep going the way we are, lots and lots of work!
