Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

Inspirational Woman- Alicia Souza | Illustrator, www.aliciasouza.com 2I was born and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE and moved to Melbourne for university, where I stayed for five years. I moved to Bangalore about six years ago to work as an illustrator and I’ve been drawing for a living ever since!

Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote

I started my online store last year around September time and I thought we’d only keep it open for the season. However, we had a great response and everyone was so lovely and supportive, that we’ve kept the store open indefinitely. Now we’re adding more products to the store and making it our happy shopping place.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

I think the biggest challenge has always been myself. I was a rather shy and risk-averse when I started off and I had to become to complete opposite to be where I am today. It involved a lot of self-pep-talks and awkward situations but it’s all worth it!

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

I feel like I’ve already achieved everything I wanted in life: to love what I do, to be in love and to be loved. Everything hence now is just bonus happiness.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

It depends on what stage of my life I’m at. If I never even moved to India, there would be a big chance I’d be working at a 9-5 across the seas. Such a different life and I’d of course be a different person too.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Everyone and everything. My parents for letting me do what I do, my family and friends for always being such great support, my baby Charlie for being himself and for everyone online whose constant support overwhelms me on a daily basis. How can I ever not be inspired or grateful?

What does the future hold for you?

Adventure! And more love and happiness, hopefully!
