When I first started out as an Entrepreneur, it was to develop Joyline Global, an export venture with my husband Ashok Dosaj. As part of Joyline, I was involved in the creative aspect of the business closely interacting with the designers & buyers to present new collections for the overseas market. This offered me the opportunity to travel to Europe & America where I visited numerous museums and nurtured my love for the Fine Arts. When life settled down, I decided to devote all my time and energy to promote serious art and launched Gallerie Alternatives with the help of many artists.
Our gallery which is located in Mega Mall, has exhibited the works of many senior as well as upcoming artists. The select group of artists include Tyeb Mehta, M F Husain, S H Raza, Krishen Khanna, Abanindra Nath Tagore, Nandlal Bose, Trupti Patel, Rajeev Lochan, Paresh Maity, Sunil Das, A.Ramachandran, Anupam Sud, Balbir Singh Katt, Latika Katt , Mahendra Pandya, P. Khemraj, Prithpal S. Ladi, Shobha Broota, Krishna Murari, Rahul Kumar & many more.
Apart from showcasing art, Gallerie Alternatives organised a film & Book Club on its premises which ran for a memorable decade. In collaboration with Prof. Manmohan Chaudhari, the creator of award winning serial Turning Point, the science field atoms and yearly film festival on development, environment and human rights PRAKRRITI, my aim was to promote various aspects of the Arts.
Over the last 18 years, I have been involved in a number of programmes that promote and support art. In Singapore, I was invited by Partners in Art to discuss the contemporary Indian art scene. My belief is that every nuance of art needs to be understood to truly be appreciated. It is this belief that led me to take up the task of leading the field trip of students of Masters in Business of Art to India from Sotheby’s Institute of Art. Over the last two decades, I have conducted numerous art tours as an art specialist for groups of visitors from USA & Europe many times including Prof Mark Nash from Royal College of Art London. In India, I have been fortunate to have curated more than one hundred exhibitions & exhibited at HSBC Gurgaon, India Habitat centre, Triveni Kala Sangam, India Art Fair every year since its inception in 2008, Art & Design show Oberoi Hotels in Delhi & Mumbai, Hotel Le Meridian Delhi, International Lawyers meet at The Leela Kempinski Gurgaon, The Emporio Mall Vasant Kunj, The Vogue wedding show 2015, The Magnolias club & The Aralias Club Gurgaon & many more.
Through all this I have enjoyed building art collections for many private collectors & corporate houses. My intention is to continue to champion the works of artists and to build a strong art fraternity in India.
