With over 10 years of theatre experience, four international feature films, 100s of corporate events and dozens of Indian TV commercials to her name, Freishia is blessed to do what she loves doing.
She has had the opportunity to have worked with stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Kareen kapoor, Salman Khan, Ajay devgan, Priyanaka Chopra, Shilpa Shetty and Katrina Kaif, Salman Rushdie, to name a few.
She has interviewed global CEOs and launched some of the most popular products in the market worldwide. A travel lover, big foodie, and fitness enthusiast She joined NDTV Good Times as an anchor with her own travel series ‘Hangout Amreeka’. Since then there has been no looking back, she has hosted many shows on the channel like Band Baaja Bride 5, India with Marriott, Lakme Fashion Week, India Couture Week.
While she is travelling the world for her tv shows & hosting some of the sub continents biggest corporate events she also creates videos for her rapidly growing youtube channel ‘Whack’ which in its first six months crossed a quarter of a lakh subscribers.
This led her to being the face of Stayfree India’s digital Youtube campaigns
Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently
A parsee girl from bandra, I’ve been a theatre actor ever since childhood. I did my first professional play at the age of five and haven’t stopped since. I have always been independent and I started working at the age of 17 along with going to college. I always knew that I would get into the media in some way and post my graduation I worked at a radio station. I missed acting so I left that and worked in a few TV serials as well, CIA cambala investigation agency , yahan ke hum sikander etc .
Unfortunately the daily drama format was something I couldn’t handle and I have always wanted to be true to myself, so I stopped doing that and got into events. I have now emceed over 300 events all over the world, along with hosting my own travel show on ndtv good times. Two yrs. back I felt that I wanted to do something on you tube and that’s when while discussing with a friend we came with whack. Today whack has close to 1 lakh subscribers over 5.5 million views and a growing community. YouTube is not my profession it’s just a hobby that has grown beyond my dreams.
Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote
Right now all my energies are focused on whack, my work continues hosting shows and my presence on ndtv good times is there, but this is my passion project that I really want to make bigger and bigger everyday. There are a lot of channels on YouTube out there but the kind of voice my channel has is unique and needs to be heard by more people. Unfortunately it doesn’t fall in the normal category of comedy, fashion, Bollywood , sport so it takes sometime to get out there.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
I always want to do something different, I could have continued my tv serials or being on radio for a long time, but my need to experience new things and different things I think can be a hindrance too, my success too. But ultimately I am much happier this way.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
The people that I get to meet with my events, the places I get to travel too all over the world, the things I get to eat and the experiences I have because of my work all of these my greatest achievements.
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
The next thing now is for me to take a break year, and travel. Travel India non-stop and collect stories. So this is something I will be doing very very soon.
What does the future hold for you?
If I knew then I wouldn’t be sitting here. This is something I can never guess, what the future holds. I like surprises, happy ones latest.
