Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently
Hey I’m Avanie Joshi. I’m a singer, actor and composer. I love recreating songs in my own way, which is why I have a channel on YouTube where I share my emotions and feelings from music to my audience. I feel that the day people understand my trance we can create magic and it would turn out to be very beautiful.
My family has always been into music. My dad is a classically trained singer and can play the tabla harmonium and my mom has also learnt singing, to play sitar and dance. My brother can play the guitar and tabla and he also sings. So i have a backbone of music and creativity in my genes. That’s where it all comes from.
Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote
I’m currently working on a release of songs that I’ve composed and I’m also collaborating with a few music composers for the same. Covers are going to be raining this year as i have a stock of exciting mashups in store for my audience.
Other than that I am expecting playbacks in movies by end of this year. I’m also working on a web series called Gorgeous Girls, where I play an aspiring singer. It will be released soon.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
I was heavily pampered as a child and never made many friends or went out beyond residential colony. Being so protected and not so opened up to the world when I chose to stay all alone in Mumbai, tackling new, weird, happy, cranky, sweet, ambitious, serious, not so serious, moody people in short all kinds of people and trying to live and survive between such a mix-breed society was a major task that i dealt with. I had a major problem understanding fake and real people as i was never exposed to the outer world. But time has taught me tremendous things.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
My greatest achievement till date is being independent financially, mentally and emotionally by the time i reached the age of 21. All thanks to Mumbai and the way Mumbai molds a person on becoming mature, stable, social yet serious.
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
I would be taking care of my best friend (my nani/grandmom) and my mom as I know they really don’t say much but they miss those good old days where all of us stayed together. Now due to distance and work we cannot meet much which hurts all three of us equally.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My parents inspire me everyday every second because there is so much to learn from them.
My mother Meenakshi Joshi is super professional at controlling her emotions that for me is considered to be the most important and the most difficult thing anyone can have a control on. She is strong, she is fast at whatever she does, she knows how to maintain a family together with love. She is highly educated and super classy with her words, her attire, her presence is remarkable. Finally, she has also inspired me with how to behave and how to present myself in public.
My father Vibhu Shankar is the most fun loving, innocent, on the face, friendly yet professional, he is a singer, musician, writer and a super classy advocate. He was the one who inspired me to get into music. He is a classically trained singer from lucknow bhatkhandey and he has supported me since childhood to sing. He used to make me and my brother get up early morning and we would be ready with his harmonium and would make us repeat Sa for half an hour every morning. He is the reason my vocal chords are the way they are now!
What does the future hold for you?
The future holds only good for me and people around me. I will not be alone in my success. With me there will me all my people & my loved ones holding the same or a higher stature in life.
