Featuring our first three panelists:
Archana Shiroor – Head of HR for Barclays Bank PLC, India and Barclays Offshoring Centre, Mumbai
Archana Shiroor serves as Head of HR at Barclays Bank India managing the Corporate, Investment Banking & Wealth Business as well as the Barclays Offshoring entity in Mumbai. As an active member of the Bank’s Operating Committee and the Leadership Committee, she provides strategic direction in partnership with business leaders on the people agenda at Barclays.
She partners closely with HR leads in the Asia Pacific region as well as the US and UK to drive people practices for the firm. She has also led the HR teams at Barclays Bank Mauritius and Seychelles for a period of two years and was instrumental in building the HR practice for three Retail Banks in India.
In her career spanning 23 years, Archana has spent five years with a leading business house in India – the TATA Group and over 11 years across three leading Private Sector Banks; HDFC Bank, Development Credit Bank and YES Bank. She has held country level responsibility for the HR function for a period of 12 years of which five years was as Head HR for two reputed Indian Private Sector Banks.
She has been the HR lead for a merger between two Indian Banks, managed a large scale transformation project and also led the Reward function besides extensive experience as an HR Business Partner and in HR operations (including implementing Oracle HR ERP system).
Marita Maier – EY Partner, Head of French and German Business Centers
Marita has over 30 years experience in professional services including 15 years as a Partner at EY. Marita has in-depth experience of working with multi-national companies on a wide range of acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures. She has worked and lived in several countries and speaks fluently German, English and French
Marita is currently working with the EY India practice leading the French and German Business Centers. She has served as EMEIA TAS COO and People Leader and managed operations and financial planning of EY’s EMEIA transactions business. Among other initiatives, Marita defined and implemented the TAS Operations and Talent strategic priorities across EY EMEIA and developed the EY transaction support team through fast track learning and on the job coaching programs. She has also provided transaction support and strategic advice to corporate and private equity firms on cross-border transactions
Throughout her career Marita has staying focused and driven, building confidence by knowing the details and acting in-line with inner convictions. Outside work she is a mother and is interested in travel, cultural diversity and photography
Khushnooma Kapadia – Director of Marketing Communications, Marriott India
Articulate and self- motivated, Khushnooma Kapadia brings foresight and vision to her role as Director of Marketing Communications, Marriott India. An impressive career spanning 17 years, Khushnooma Kapadia has worked with renowned organisations such as Arthur Andersen, Good Relations (I) Ltd. Her perseverance for excellence has seen her grow from Manager of Marketing Communications to her present role as Director of Marketing Communications.
A University topper, Khushnooma has completed her MBA in management from Jamnalal Bajaj College in Mumbai. Her foray in the corporate world began with Arthur Anderson followed by a five year tenure in PR with Good Relations. She then moved to the JW Marriott Mumbai and has since completed over 10 years with the Marriott Group. .
Her dedication and strategic planning helped position JW Marriott Mumbai as the ultimate luxury destination in Mumbai. She is currently responsible for corporate communications and marketing for all India operations of existing Marriott properties and setting up the marketing and communications road map for new properties under the chain. Khushnooma oversees and manages the marketing operations of 28 operational hotels across India, while she has played an instrumental role in the launch of 25 of those hotels within the Group.
She has proved her mettle by demonstrating a meticulous eye for detail while being actively involved in the process of brand development and sustenance through a focused effort involving both communication and marketing techniques.
