On International Women’s Day 2014, WeAreTheCity launched in India.
In just one short year WeAreTheCity India has grown to become one of the most successful platforms for promoting and empowering Indian women.
“I always dreamt that I would expand WeAreTheCity to India”, said CEO and Founder, Vanessa Vallely, “But I would never have imagined that we would achieve so much in just one year. It really is a dream come true to see the site developing so quickly, reaching so many women and telling so many inspirational stories.”
WATC India now receives one million hits per month and has a growing membership of over 750 members. It has attracted sponsors including EY, Barclays and Marriott India and has a network of committees and contributors reaching all corners of India.
Founder of WeAreTheCity India and Editor-in-Chief, Caroline Graham, said, “I have been truly inspired by the articles we receive about the women in India. It is their success, perseverance and ability to overcome all the odds that makes our platform so exciting. One of the cornerstones of the WATC vision is to connect women and this is what drives the site forward. The networks and contacts of our committee members, contributors and bloggers ensure a steady stream of fabulous content to the site, and we in turn pass on these connections to our members via our articles.”
