I was born in Delhi and have lived here all my life. I completed my school education from Modern School, Vasant Vihar. I took up Textile Designing at Pearl Academy of fashion. From there I went to Melbourne to RMIT University and qualified as a textile designer.
I have a twin sister Nandini who is a patisserie chef from Le Cordn Bleu but chooses to be a Director at a Montessori School. I have two brothers; Arjun who runs a brand called Dough Dough famous for its world breads and Dhruv, who runs a branch of the family business of Ayurvedic Skin and Hair care products under the brand of ‘Terrai Natural Products’. My grandfather – Lala Ram Pershad ji – a name to be reckoned with in the hotel industry.
The menu offered is fairly diverse, with enough options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians, and to satiate a sweet tooth.

I had a vision to go against all the myths of not eating and losing weight. My vision and enterprise have been the driving force for TLC Kitchen – a brave new concept in healthy eating. I started catering for people who needed food for small gatherings. It fed my passion and I started doing quite a few caterings later. Finally I continued with my passion – COOKING!!!
The origin of TLC kitchen was something that needed to be done for the betterment of everyone’s health and to make life very convenient. I also realised that people break diets when they do not get the food they are craving. This made me experiment with many recipes and menus to create dishes that were healthy, but gourmet as well.
What has been your biggest challenge to achieving your success?
TLC Kitchen is a new venture with no one to copy so to be a pioneer in anything is always a challenge. Challenges include promoting what we do and ensuring people know what we offer in terms of quality and range.
What has been your greatest achievement so far?
To have established this project. When people call and say that they have lost some weight or they love the food – that is my achievement! Today lifestyles have to be changed. To lead a healthy life is very important and TLC Kitchen offers you the convenience. The only thing left to do is exercise.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My parents have been my strength, my guardian angels and my backing for all that I have achieved in life. They brought us up by giving up their pleasures in life. Taught us to be, grounded, humble and how to respect others. They always encouraged us in our endeavours. Every step of the way they are there for me and I cannot thank them enough as they take away all the problems I face!
Also my father-in-law has been a great part in letting me live my dream of TLC as much as my husband, Arjun Kapur.
How do you balance your work life and home life?
I have to thank my family for the support they have given me. Also my staff, as sometimes my family becomes my priority. I have to gauge what is more important sometimes and do that. At times it is tough and I would have not been able to do this without my family support.
Be confident in your dream, start small and build your way up!
What advice do you have for women starting out on their own?
Be confident in your dream, start small and build your way up! Don’t give up because your dream and vision is yours…so let them find the way for you!
Can you recommend any organisations or networking groups that have particularly helped you on your journey?
A mention in a food group always helps. My PR agency Intelliquo has helped me to be recognised.
If you could ask for one thing to help propel your business what would it be?
An investment by someone who realises how big and important health and food is today. Then I can grow TLC more.
What does the future hold for you?
TLC Kitchen is a revolution in healthy food. It’s about people understanding that a little expense goes a long way. TLC is a combination of a dietician, food, convenience and health!
