Sandhya GargI decided to launch my own label after graduating from the London College of Fashion in 2011. I polished my skills at International design studios training at Alexander McQueen, Alice Temperley and Izmaylova, learning everything from different pattern cutting techniques to hand embroidery craft and vintage knitting-lace making at the Gucci factory in Italy.

I was recently seen at Project Runway Season 13, I was fortunate enough to win 2 Challenges, was in Top a lot and my work was loved by Heidi Klum, Nina Garcia and Zac Posen. Specializing in womenswear, for me fashion is all about glamour and personal style.

Tell us about the company you have set up – when did you set it up, what products or services do you provide, what is your target market?

Bold color combined with contrasting textural elements and hand craftsmanship define Label Sandhya Garg. The brand ideology revolves around the unique interpretation and juxtaposition of world travels, regional folklore, mythology, superstition and architectural influences. The brand offers womenswear clothing in limited edition prints.

Why did you set up the company? / What drove you to become an Entrepreneur?

I have always wanted to have my own clothing brand. My family is in business and being an entrepreneur is in my blood, I think. The clothing that I offer comes from heart, its colourful, has a soul and is about limited edition craftsmanship rather than mass-produced designs.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

I think everyday brings new challenges and I am yet to achieve the success that I dream of. But pushing myself everyday to pursue my dream no matter what the hurdle is one of the biggest challenges.

I am yet to get my greatest achievements, right now I am working towards it.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

My parents, husband and family are my biggest inspiration.

How do you balance your work life and home life?

I have learned to prioritize, this I feel is the ultimate way to balance work and home life.

What advice do you have for women starting out on their own?

Don’t give up, It is not easy and never will be. But at the end of the day it will all be worth it.

Can you recommend any organisations or networking groups that have particularly helped you on your journey?

My colleges where I was trained in Fashion Design- National Institute of Fashion Technology and London College of Fashion.

If you could ask for one thing to help propel your business what would it be?
