Female entrepreneur: Anuradha Vinod Gupta | Founder and CEO, Vows for Eternity

Vows for eternity

Anuradha Vinod GuptaI belong to a well-regarded business family in India, however I have been out of India for over 16 years and currently live in Manhattan. My personal journey started from a small place in the mountains in Nainital where I did my schooling. In College I studied Psychology and Economics and even started my own business, selling it successfully a few years later as I left to pursue my MBA in Melbourne, Australia. After living in Melbourne for five years, I moved to London where I worked for Arsenal Football Club for over six years. The move to the US was totally personal, as I got married.

Tell us about the Vows For Eternity

Vows For Eternity is a New York-based, highly confidential and personalised matrimonial search that brings life partners together based on mindsets, values and personalities. Outside the US, it has an established presence in Mumbai, Delhi and Singapore. It is an elite fee-based search with strict eligibility criteria for the affluent, global Indian / Non Resident Indian (NRI) in the age group of 24-45 years. Our members consist primarily of successful professionals, industrialists and celebrities, based in India, the US, UK, Singapore and Dubai. However what binds them together is the fact that they are successful, well travelled, progressive thinking and cosmopolitan in their outlook, belonging to extremely cultured families and have a fondness for the finer things in life! And above all they are looking for a like-minded life partner with whose to share this wonderful journey.

I strongly believe that marriage is built on the four pillars of friendship, trust, respect and loyalty. In today’s time, when people are delaying getting married, often that can lead to unrealistic expectations and even focusing on the superficial, giving it undue importance. I think it’s very important to be able to differentiate between what constitutes the core and what is easily changeable or superficial. Personality, fit and the connect of values between two people and two families becomes even more important, and difficult, with time and age.

I do not work with bio data as I strongly feel that people are so much more than what can be conveyed on paper. I travel around the world and meet members to understand their personalities, value systems and mindsets and then match them with other like-minded members from within our exclusive club. The focus is on quality and not quantity and getting to know members helps in increase the matchmaking success rates significantly. The whole process is designed to make it as easy and organic as can be, so it doesn’t feel like a strictly arranged scenario. At the same time we provide a global outreach whilst still maintaining a very personalised and confidential approach.

What drove you to become an entrepreneur?

Being an entrepreneur comes very naturally to me as I come from a business family!

However it was my own experience of looking for a life partner, along with the experiences of people extremely close to me, resulted in me setting up Vows For Eternity four years ago.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

I view challenges very positively and in fact my successes are all based on my challenges.

What has been your greatest achievement so far?

I think my greatest achievement so far is being true to myself and to my reasons for starting Vows for Eternity. Trying to make a positive difference in the life of someone with their best interest has always been my motivator and even though we may not be able to find a life partner for everyone, we try our best and our heart truly is in the right place!

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

How do you balance your work life and home life?

The credit for that goes to my husband and my mother, as without their love and unconditional understanding and support, I would not be able to do a thing.

What advice do you have for women starting out on their own?

Believe in yourself and know that in life the only limits that really matter are the ones that we put on ourselves.

What does the future hold for you?

I don’t know but what I do know is that I will enjoy the journey and live every moment, because I don’t know how to live any other way.
