Mumbai: Art & culture celebrated with great social relevance and with a real big heart – The fourth edition of the Chembur festival, starting this February 12th, brings to Mumbai a unique flavour of the locality’s rich cultural heritage, art, enterprise, health and cuisine, entwined with a serious civic consciousness message and some great performances, activities and showcases.

    Over 30 unique cultural experiences spread across dance, theatre, self defence and health

Organised by the Chembur Citizen’s Welfare association, the festival will celebrate Chembur’s ethnic diversity with a four day spread of art and cultural events, competitions, health and awareness drives that further issues of the girl child, sanitation, women self defence and traffic awareness.

Drawing competitionA unique trend setting phenomena for the suburb, Chembur fest 2015 has upped its ante this year with stellar art and culture showcases such as the one act play competition Kshanjete where winners will be awarded in the name of Late Natasamrat Machindra Kambli – the famous drama marathi theatre actor, a beautiful Indian classical dance showcasing the eternal love story of Usha & Annirudha performed by artists from Polland and morning & evening ragas by talented Chembur citizens.

The festival will also include interactive drum circles, high end rangoli exhibitions based on world famous tourist attractions and invite residents to put their best foot forward with participative platforms such as Masterchef Chembur, Story-telling, classical singing and Chembur’s Got Talent competitions.

Paying great heed to the locale’s health and fitness, the 2015 edition will also feature a 5 km minithon for all age groups (lined by a special safety demonstration showcase by Chembur Traffic police), special sessions on yogic management of diabetes, yogic management of stress and regular sessions by the Ambika yogic kutir and Yoga Sadhna Kendra along with a special ‘Senior Citizen’s Sports Day’ for its elderly population.

Sponsored by The Heritage group and Thapar realtors- Siddhivinayak group, the fest will also address women related safety issues by conducting self defence workshops, Tai Chi workshops and open-forum discussions on protecting the girl child, amongst other issues that plague the suburb . The citizen’s association will also arrange for multiple medical and blood donation camps as part of their social responsibility drives across the locality.
