Inspirational Woman: Ritu Grover | CEO, The Global Helpdesk

Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

TGH FeatureI am the CEO of the group THE GLOBAL HELPDESK which provides integrated facility management and lifestyle management solutions to corporate houses and high end individuals seeking the luxury of the GIFT OF TIME .

Throughout my career and mostly working with the semi skilled classes, I have always challenged inefficiencies and leveraged technology and processes. Before starting The Global Helpdesk , I spent 10 years working as a trained interior designer whipping out turnkey projects both for residential and corporate houses.

Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote

Whenever I see a kid running bare feet at any traffic signal and begging, my heart sinks. It pains me to watch kids at such young age, forced to do begging or child labour, which happens at an alarming rate in India. At TGH, we always encourage NGOs who are supporting Young men and women to empower them with education and providing them basic facilities to survive and become independent in future. This is our future and if we wont take care of it now, we should be ready for dire consequences. Today a staggering 31.2% of Indian population is under 14 years of age, which is great only if this 31.2% is being taken care by us! Otherwise 20 years down the lane, we will be having malnourished, uneducated 31.2% youth who will be a liability to the country. I wish to provide a platform to reform our Young India so that our future is in competent and educated hands.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

First and the biggest challenge for us was to start up a company with just a concept in mind, no manual and no books written about it. In any other businesses, there would be some seniors to learn from their mistakes. Having no to guide us through this business, we learnt from our own mistakes.

Second biggest challenge was untrained manpower because there were no courses regarding the issues in our field. Next was training them, making them understand the concept and values. We hired very basic level
graduates, so explaining them about the customer sensitivity was hard. We virtually run a school for training purposes.

Following was balancing my family and work. I got an immense support from my loved ones and that’s the reason I could concentrate on my other family, my venture. Basically, the growth, the whole journey has been challenging
but there was no challenge that we could not overcome. This is entirely been our own funding.

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

Balancing my roles as a mother and as an entrepreneur has been my biggest achievement in my life. There have been lots of the ups and downs, a huge period with slow growth and slow down in the economy. All these pressures
do take a considerable amount of your time and energy and that is why to ensure that despite everything that happens in my professional life, I do make it a point to devote enough quality time for my adorable daughter,
Sana Grover, and it is indeed a satisfying feeling to watch her grow into a beautiful and sensible human being.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

I believe that Human interaction and People management have been a part of my whole life and if not The Global Helpdesk, then I would have been running my own Personal Development School, where I could help in making our Young generation/ our Future/ The Youth of India more dependable force. To be able to make them understand that there is nothing bigger than empowering our youth because if the roots are strong then we can expect a strong future! So, something to do with empowerment of Young men and women would be something that excites me and most probably I would be spending my experience and energies to help in shaping the future of India.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

It is hard to pin point any particular person because there have been many people, who have inspired me, motivated me, guided me and above all stood by me during all phases of my life and I have constantly learnt and grown
watching all these great members of our society. Amazing entrepreneurs such as Richard Branson, Steve Jobs, Dhirubhai Ambani, our PM Shri Narendra Modi, Young Women achievers like Marissa Mayer, Chanda Kochchar, Indra Nooyi motivate me to go that extra mile every day and stretch my perceived limits so that I can also become an Inspiration to my team and the young men and women in India and world alike.

What does the future hold for you?

More Professional challenges to overcome, More Personal milestones to touch, More Goals to Achieve, More Satisfaction of Giving to attain. I would like my future to be all about India, all about People, All about Young men and women’s growth. I would like to be associated with a platform, where I can contribute and share my knowledge and experience to channelize today’s youth’s energy in positive direction and make them an asset to India.
