Inspirational Woman: Sonam C Chhabra | Actor and Anchor

Having hosted some of the most prestigious events all over the world, with a Bollywood film and a Talk Show in her kitty, Sonam C Chhabra is ready to spread her wings and fly.

She also dabbles in theatre, feature films and short films with her Bollywood debut movie Kirket to be released shortly. When not anchoring or shooting, she generally travels and works on her craft. An animal lover at heart, she is actively involved in numerous social causes. We chat up the girl who is all set to lend her inimitable charm to Bollywood.

Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently

I am an Actor and TV Host with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce and a Masters in Mass Communication. I was born and brought up in a simple middle class family. Though I have made a mark as a successful anchor and TV Host, it seemed like a far fetched dream back then. Apart from Anchoring and Acting, I am an avid traveler too!

Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote

My upcoming Bollywood movie “Kirket” showcases the struggle of upcoming cricketers where I play the lead role of a News Anchor. Since I work for the welfare of stray animals, I want to involve more and more youngsters for the same.

What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?

Reaching at this point was not a cakewalk . Most of us are tuned to get a secure job but breaking away from this routine and choosing to be an artist was a challenge.

What has been your greatest achievement personally?

To break stereotypes. As a simple middle class girl you are generally expected to choose safe career options. To break away from the clutter and carve a niche for myself has been enthralling.

If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

There’s no way I couldn’t  have been an artist. I was born for the stage and camera. I was born to perform.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

My mother. She is the wind beneath my wings. I am successful because she taught me to fly. I believe in being an early bird to catch my worm and my mom is the one who prepares me everyday. She has got my back and I have got hers. Behind every successful person there’s a woman. Mine is my mom.

What does the future hold for you?

With a Bollywood film, a short film and a talk show under my kitty I am looking at broadening my horizon and be a part of meaningful cinema.
