Tell us about yourself and your background.

My passion for travelling took me to three boarding schools, an undergraduate degree from Lancaster University in England and Hotel Management course in Switzerland from Les Roches. I lived long enough in these places to call them my home.
Yearly family vacations exposed me to my love for staying in hotels. On every trip, we as a family made sure to experience as many hotel and resorts as we could. We would never stay in any one hotel for more than two days. Packing and unpacking never bothered us. We were always at home until we had a new hotel to explore.
Tell us about the company you have set up – when did you set it up, what products or services do you provide, what is your target market?
My family is in the real estate business, based in the city of Lord Krishna, Mathura. Shri Radha Brij Vasundhara was built as a second home concept in Goverdhan. Hoards of tourist visit Mathura throughout the year. The place is not seasonal; it is divine all year round. International followers of Krishna spend months at this place lost in their prayers. It’s considered very lucky to be married in a place of the Lord. But to do all this, people need a place to feel at home and to have all their worries taken care of. Hence on my completion of Masters in Hotel management, we decided to convert Brij Vasundhara into a one of a kind, full service resort.
Why did you set up the company? / What drove you to become an Entrepreneur?
I have always been very proud of being born on the land of Krishna and since I can remember I’ve wanted to do something closer at home. Put my city on the global map, make others feel at home in my place as I have always felt at other hotels I’ve stayed in.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
Goverdhan is a small town 20 kms away from Mathura and so it is difficult to get the kind of manpower you need to run a resort. Hiring and training people from the local area has helped us to get gems who know the place in and out, and can tell you a story about any little temple or kund that exists around.
What has been your greatest achievement so far?
Guest satisfaction is what the hotels strive for. And within a year of operation we have seen a lot of return guests. Our international guests start coming in from October, and this year we saw almost 70% of last years guest, who regularly come to India, come back to our resort for their long haul in Goverdhan.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
For most people its their parents and for me too. My mother always wanted her daughters to make a name of their own. Her inspirations keep me inspired. And my father is my role model, he is an inspiration to many and it his contributions towards his dream of making the city of Mathura a metro. That has inspired me to follow my own dreams.
What advice do you have for women starting out on their own?
If the women has set out to do something on her own, she sure has the determination and can do it. We only need to focus on our goals and rest everything that comes in the way, good or bad, only makes us take another step ahead toward achieving those goals.
What does the future hold for you?
We are coming up with new restaurants in Mathura and plan is to create many more Brij Vasundharas till our city is shining.
