Don’t hang Up Your Boots!! Coach Shilpi’s Corner

Wow, 7,867 of you have read this.
army-400903_1280Five steps to wade through tough times on your entrepreneurial journey.

The whole world is celebrating. Why  am not I? Did I have to do this to myself? I was at least stable in my corporate job…

When the going gets tough in an entrepreneur’s life, the mind gets cluttered with doubt, with questions. The clarity and high of entrepreneurship suddenly starts looking gloomy and stupid and you curse the magic moment when you decided to jump into the sea of uncertainty.

Well, every entrepreneur I have known, including me, has gone through this fall in their entrepreneurial career. And it’s important, no, it’s very important to know of ways to overcome these challenging and testing phases and say to yourself,  “No! I am not hanging up my boots!”

Stress and tension has never been a solution to any problem.  Wars have been won on attitude and not on might. Hold on to the winners attitude. Be realistic but be positive.

You’re Not Alone!

Practically, everyone has struggles in their life – emotional, physical, financial. So, if you were just falling into the pit of self pity, you don’t need to. Staying motivated and reaching our goals is an uphill task for most of us. Just look at how many people go on diets, lose weight, and then gain it back again! And again! Who better than me would know this!

The fact that you are not alone and that perhaps you are in a better position than many others are, is reason enough to get the grip back on motivation and determination.

Revisit your Purpose

Flashback time. Reflection time. Go back to your goal sheet. Why did you choose to be an entrepreneur?  Dig into the larger purpose of your life. Tough times can easily take you away from your larger purpose. Be ruthlessly objective to revisit your purpose. And once you have the answers, you would be the best judge on the way forward.

Share your Innermost Fears

Talking is something we are all very good at. It’s important to talk, share your innermost fears and doubts with your mentors and trusted friends. At a time, when your mind is cluttered with doubt, you might not be the right judge of your own action. So, if you had invested in an ecosystem of mentors, coaches and trusted friends, it’s time to reach out to them. Remember, these are the people who don’t judge you. They are always there for you – guiding supporting and motivating.

The clarity and high of entrepreneurship suddenly starts looking gloomy and stupid and you curse the magic moment when you decided to jump into the sea of uncertainty.

No Attachments – Restrategise

The reality is that refocusing, changing, or making a new start on something, no matter how small, is a big deal. But it’s not impossible. Emotional attachment to ideas is lethal to the existence of an entrepreneur  You need to relook at your business as a third party with no strings attached and then figure out what is working and what is not. If it means letting go of few things close to your heart just let go. Staring at the problem will not help. Restrategising will.

Stay happy. Stay positive

Stress and tension has never been a solution to any problem.  Wars have been won on attitude and not on might. Hold on to the winners attitude. Be realistic but be positive. Good music, good readings and togetherness play a big role in pumping the adrenalin. This is an opportunity to test your belief. You cannot fail yourself.

“When you go through a hard period,
When everything seems to oppose you,
When you feel you cannot even bear one more minute,
NEVER GIVE UP!
Because it is the time and place that the course will divert!”
