CV Tips – Resume, CV or Bio? | Pallavi Pande

CV_laptopWhat’s the difference between Resume, CV and Professional Bio?

Very few people know that ‘Resume’ and ‘CV’ are not the same, however they are used for the same purpose.

In short,

‘Resume’ is a brief and concise one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education.

‘CV’ is a more detailed synopsis of at least two pages, if not more. It includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honours, affiliations and other details.

On the other hand, ‘Professional Bio’ is a major component of your professional branding strategy. It is a one page, story-based version of your entire career. It provides a brief overview of professional achievements and throws a light on your personality traits too. Bios are use in social media profiles, company websites, press releases, event programs and brochures etc.
